Inclement weather and light drizzle could not dampen spirits of yoga lovers who gathered in large numbers across different parts of the Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh on the occasion of International Yoga Day on Sunday (June 21, 2026). Collector S. Ram Sundar Reddy, Joint Collector Sedhu Madhavan, and other officials performed yoga asanas at Balaji junction, the main venue for the Yoga Day celebrations in the district.
Hundreds of people of all age groups gathered early in the morning and cheered themselves to practice yoga under the supervision of experts. The Collector expressed happiness over the good response from people at the event organised officially by the government. He said that continuous practice of yoga asanas would enable everyone to be fit and lead happy life.
Reddy said that the cool weather had turned into a blessing in disguise for the people who were looking for respite as the mercury touched 38 degrees Celsius till last week. The response is good in Srikakulam
also, official said, crediting the initiative of the Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar. Hundreds of people performed yoga asanas at Dutch building, where Mr. Pundkar gave away certificates to several yoga gurus and meritorious students on the occasion.
