The Indian Navy has commissioned three indigenously built platforms, including INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray, during an event at the naval dockyard in Kolkata. The commissioning ceremony was presided over by the Prime Minister. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders, these state-of-the-art warships feature over seventy-five per cent indigenous content, providing a significant boost to domestic defence manufacturing. The newly inducted fleet includes a stealth frigate, a survey vessel, and an anti-submarine warfare shallow water craft.
The Navy Chief highlighted that these vessels will enhance maritime combat, anti-submarine warfare preparedness, and hydrographic survey capabilities. The event marks the second dry commissioning in the country, reflecting growing self-reliance in warship construction. The survey vessel, commissioned on World Hydrography Day, will support the blue economy of partner nations. Furthermore, the anti-submarine craft represents a successful public-private partnership aimed at optimising resources and reducing construction time.
The commanding officers designate read out the commissioning warrant, officially integrating the platforms into the Eastern Naval Command.
