In the match played at BMO Field in Toronto, Undav replaced Jamal Musiala in the 60th minute, equalised for the four-time champions in the 68th minute, and then netted the winner in the fourth minute of stoppage time. In Germany’s opening Group E match of this year’s FIFA World Cup against Curacao at NRG Stadium in Houston on June 16, Undav came on as a substitute in the 64th minute and scored in the 78th minute.
He also provided assists for goals scored by Nathaniel Brown in the 68th minute and Kai Havertz in the 88th minute. The 29-year-old’s five goal involvements at this year’s FIFA World Cup have helped him equal the record for the most goal involvements by a substitute in a single FIFA World Cup tournament. At the 1990 FIFA World Cup, Roger Milla was also involved in five goals as a substitute. Undav and Milla are followed on the list by André Schürrle, who was involved in four goals as a substitute for Germany at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
