At least seven people were killed and 25 others injured in a roof collapse at the Yashwadi temple in Manvat taluk, Parbhani district, Maharashtra, on Saturday (June 20, 2026). The ceiling of an under-constructionhall at the Hanuman temple collapsed in the afternoon when a large number of people had gathered there for weekly prayers and a community meal. District Collector Sanjay Chavan, Sub-Divisional Officer Sangita Chavan, and Tehsildar Pandurang Machewad said that 32 people were pulled out of the debris and seven of them were declared dead.
The other 25 were injured. The rescue operations continued for two and a half hours and involved the police, a disaster management team, the public works department, and local villagers. The cause of the collapse is under investigation. On Saturdays, the temple draws a large number of people from Parbhani and neighbouring districts as it is customary. Devotees assemble at the temple complex for darshan, kirtan, and distribution of mahaprasad. The structure that collapsed was a hall located in front of the main temple, where religious activities were in progress.
The incident triggered panic within the premises, with devotees running in confusion. Upon receiving information about the incident, local authorities and the police arrived at the scene. Emergency personnel, including fire brigade units from Pathri and the municipal corporation, began work to pull out those trapped under the debris. Several ambulances were dispatched to the site to transport the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment. Parbhani MP Sanjay Jadhav expressed grief over the incident and urged the administration to ensure necessary medical attention for the injured. He said he was in touch with district officials to coordinate relief efforts.
Similarly, Parbhani MLA Dr. Rahul Patil conveyed his condolences to the families of the deceased and said that the administration had been directed to provide necessary assistance to the affected families. He emphasised that relief measures were being prioritised. The cause of the collapse is being investigated as the administration focuses on rescue work and medical attention. Relatives have gathered at the temple and hospitals for information on their family members who visited the temple.
