Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Pralhad Joshi has directed officials to expedite and complete the work on the international sports complex being built under the Smart City Scheme and dedicate it to the public at the earliest. He was speaking to press persons after reviewing the works on the international sports complex at Morarji Nagar in Hubballi on Saturday.
Joshi said that 95% of the work had already been completed, and he had directed the officials to complete the remaining work at the earliest and not leave the facility unused for long. The Union Minister said that under the direction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, works taken up under Union government schemes were being reviewed and also steps were being taken to complete the works at the earliest.
“Accordingly, I visited the sports complex to review the progress,” he said. Joshi said that at the international sports complex, 22 games could be played at a time. The maintenance of the facility should be given to non-governmental organisations, and the government would extend all the necessary assistance, he said.
Joshi was accompanied by Mahesh Tenginakai, MLA, Mayor Jyoti Patil, Deputy Mayor Santosh Chavan, Municipal Commissioner Rudresh Ghali and others.
