Vizianagaram Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy on Saturday (June 20, 2026) said that beach tourism would get a new impetus with the construction of an international airport at Bhogapuram in the district. He said that the government was taking developmental activities at beaches located in Pusapatirega and Bhogapuram mandals of the district. Along with tourists and locals, he practised yoga at Chintapalli, one of the famous beach tourism spots of the district.
Speaking to The Hindu on the occasion, he said that many foreign tourists would also like to spend quality time at beaches, resorts and star hotels being constructed with sea view points in future. He said that the development of the beach corridor from Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram would be an added advantage for the Vizianagaram district also. Ramsundar Reddy hoped that the temple tourism would also get a boost with the arrival of tourists and pilgrims from different parts of the country.
According to him, the historic Ramatheertham temple, the famous Ramanarayanam temple, Lord Shiva’s Punyagiri temple, Thatipudi reservoir and other places would witness the arrival of more pilgrims in future. Ramsundar Reddy said that the government would strengthen the tourism department with the appointment of additional staff for the promotion of tourism in Vizianagaram district. “Direct and indirect employment will be created with the flourishing of tourism spots.
We will request the government to allocate more funds for the construction of cottages in selected beaches,” he added.
