More than 65,000 candidates to appear for NEET (UG) re-examination in Andhra Pradesh

The Andhra Pradesh government has completed all arrangements for the smooth and secure conduct of the NEET (UG)-2026 re-examination scheduled to be held on Sunday (June 21, 2026) across the State. Commissioner of Higher Education Narayana Bharat Gupta, who has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer for effective coordination and supervision, said the examination will be conducted in pen-and-paper Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) mode at 185 centres spread across 27 cities, with 65,790 candidates expected to appear. He said a State-level control room has been established at the Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education in Mangalagiri to facilitate seamless coordination among examination authorities. To strengthen communication between the State Nodal Officer, Chief Superintendents of examination centres and District Revenue Officers (DROs), the government has appointed 16 Principals of Government Degree Colleges and 28 Principals/Heads of Sections of Government Polytechnic Colleges as Liaison Officers.

The NEET (UG)-2026 examination, conducted by the Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions to undergraduate medical courses, will be held from 2 p.m. to 5.15 p.m. Authorities across the State have been directed to ensure strict adherence to examination protocols and provide a safe, transparent and candidate-friendly environment. District administrations have also put in place elaborate measures to ensure a hassle-free examination process. In Nandyal district, Collector Rajakumari Ganiya said 1,521 candidates, including 1,089 girls, 432 boys and 10 differently-abled students, will appear for the exam at five centres. All necessary arrangements, including security, transportation and candidate assistance, have been completed. In Kurnool district, 4,995 candidates are expected to take the examination at 16 centres.

District Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil said adequate security arrangements have been made and candidates can report any disturbance or emergency through Dial 112, 100, or WhatsApp number 9121101100. The Anantapur district administration has set up a dedicated helpline 8500292992 to provide assistance and support to candidates and their parents. In Chittoor district, 1,111 candidates are expected to appear at three centres within the Chittoor Municipal Corporation limits. District Revenue Officer K. Degree College, Savitramma Government Women’s Degree College and Little Flower English Medium School. Candidates appearing for the test are advised to reach the examination centre well before the reporting window, strictly follow the dress code and permissible items advisory, available on neet.nta.nic.in, carry only permitted items, rely only on official communications from neet.nta.nic.in and not fall prey to rumours or fraudulent claims of question paper leaks, report suspicious messages or channels to NTA or to cyber-crime authorities immediately, trust their preparation and remain calm.
