A massive fire swept through the Shastri Park furniture market in northeast Delhi late on Friday night, destroying several shops and causing losses running into lakhs of rupees, officials from the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said on Saturday.
The incident sparked anger among local residents, some of whom allegedly pelted stones at fire tenders over what they claimed was a delayed response. According to the DFS, the first call reporting the blaze was received at around 11:57 pm.
