Modi also praised the President’s dedication to India’s development, calling it a motivating force for many.
“May she be blessed with a long and healthy life in the service of the nation," he said, adding that he looked forward to meeting her later in the day at a programme in Odisha. Vice President C P Radhakrishnan also wished President Murmu and said she consistently championed the cause of the underprivileged and devoted herself to the service of the nation. “Her remarkable commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare continues to motivate people across the country," Radhakrishnan said. Murmu assumed office as the 15th President of India in July 2022, becoming the first tribal woman and the youngest person to occupy the post. Before becoming President, she served as the Governor of Jharkhand and held several public offices in Odisha.
