The trader resisted and, during the commotion, the accused were unable to take the bag. After the attempt failed, the accused allegedly fired three rounds in the air to create panic and escaped, officials said. The gunshots caused panic in the area, with passersby and local residents rushing for cover. A team from Geeta Colony police station reached the spot after receiving information and inspected the scene.
Police said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to identify the accused and trace their escape route. Multiple teams have been formed and raids are being carried out to catch the suspects. The trader has told the police that the attackers may have had prior information about his movement and the cash he was carrying, raising suspicion that someone known to him could have leaked the details, officers said.
Police said all angles, including possible insider involvement, are being investigated. The attempted robbery ended without any loss of cash or injuries, and police are now examining footage, conducting raids and looking into whether the attackers had inside information about the trader's movement.
