The incident took place at 14th Cross in Cubbonpet, where two men riding a motorcycle allegedly snatched a pedestrian's mobile phone and tried to escape.
As the victim raised an alarm, a nearby worker allegedly hurled a sack at the motorcycle to stop them. Read Full Story The motorcycle reportedly lost balance, forcing the duo to abandon the stolen phone and run away. One of the suspect, identified as Junaid, collapsed on a footpath a short distance from the spot and died.
Police said he was believed to have had a pre-existing heart condition. The second suspect, Arbaz, has been taken into custody. Police have recovered CCTV footage capturing the alleged snatching attempt and the events that followed. An unnatural death case has been registered at Halasuru Gate Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
