(File pic: ANI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde on Thursday led a special resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the party’s gathering, praising his leadership and claiming that several long-standing aspirations of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray had been fulfilled under the Modi government. Addressing a large gathering of party workers, Shinde said the resolution was passed to acknowledge Modi’s achievements and his contribution to the nation over the years. He asserted that despite being in public life for decades, no one had been able to level a corruption charge against the Prime Minister.
Calling Modi “the pride of the nation", Shinde cited the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir as landmark decisions that reflected Balasaheb Thackeray’s long-held vision. He also praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, crediting him for taking strong steps against Naxalism and supporting the removal of Article 370. Shinde said Shiv Sena was proud to have been given the opportunity to move the congratulatory resolution on behalf of the NDA. According to him, party workers rose to their feet and applauded Modi’s leadership, underscoring the strong support for the Prime Minister within the Shiv Sena ranks. Taking a swipe at political opponents, Shinde said those working to make India an economic powerhouse were being subjected to daily criticism. “The people have already shown such critics their place," he remarked, while highlighting the NDA government’s development agenda.
The Shiv Sena leader repeatedly invoked Balasaheb Thackeray during his speech, arguing that true allegiance to the Sena founder lay in following his ideas and principles. Referring to the Ram Temple and Article 370 decisions, he said Balasaheb would have been happy to see these goals achieved. Amid speculation about differences within the ruling alliance, Shinde also sought to project unity with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He dismissed talk of a cold war between the two leaders, saying both were working as a team and remained focused on governance and development. The resolution congratulating Modi emerged as the centrepiece of the event, with Shinde using the occasion to reinforce Shiv Sena’s commitment to the NDA and to present the Prime Minister’s tenure as one that had delivered on issues long championed by Balasaheb Thackeray.
