A man has been arrested for allegedly ramming his car into a security guard at a toll plaza in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district following a dispute with a female toll employee. The incident, which left the 65-year-old guard seriously injured, was captured on CCTV cameras and mobile phone videos, police said. The incident took place at the Puraini Toll Plaza on the Nagina-Dhampur route, where a female employee was operating the boom barrier during her shift. According to eyewitnesses and toll plaza staff, a car arrived at the toll booth and the driver became agitated after a brief delay in the opening of the barrier.

Amid the commotion, 65-year-old security guard Mahipal, a resident of Syohara, stepped in to defuse the situation and restore order. According to toll plaza staff, the driver suddenly accelerated his vehicle and allegedly hit Mahipal before fleeing the scene. The impact reportedly threw the guard onto the road, causing serious injuries.
THE EMPLOYEE'S CONDITION IS BEING CLOSELY MONITORED The incident triggered panic at the toll plaza, with employees and local residents rushing to assist the injured guard. He was initially taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to a medical facility in Meerut for advanced treatment due to the severity of his injuries. His condition is being closely monitored. The episode has sparked concerns among toll plaza workers over their safety while performing duty, particularly in situations involving aggressive motorists. Employees said incidents of abuse and intimidation against toll staff, especially women, have become a growing concern.
Police launched an investigation soon after the incident and examined CCTV footage as well as videos recorded by witnesses on their mobile phones. Based on the evidence collected, the accused was identified as Anoop Gobil, son of Jai Prakash, a resident of Pilkhana Bakkal village in Saharanpur district. Officials said the accused has been arrested and further legal proceedings are underway. Police are continuing to gather evidence and record statements as part of the investigation.
