Yogi Adityanath Attacks Opposition, Says SIT Probe Will Reveal Truth In Ram Temple Fund Row Published By, Last Updated: June 19, 2026, 21:53 IST Yogi Adityanath alleges a planned conspiracy to defame Ram Janmabhoomi, announces an SIT at the Trusts request, attacks Opposition over Ram devotion and Ayodhya development claims UP CM Yogi Adityanath. (Image: ANI/File) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday attacked the Opposition at the 88th birth anniversary celebrations of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj in Ayodhya, accusing rival parties of running a “planned conspiracy" to defame the Ram Janmabhoomi and announced that a Special Investigation Team will investigate the matter. Mahant Nritya Gopal Das Ji Maharaj is the head of Mani Ram Das Chhawani and President of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. The SIT, Yogi said, was constituted at the Trust’s own request. Recommended Stories “Those who never even came to Ayodhya for the darshan of Ram Lalla are today talking about devotion to Lord Ram," Yogi said at the event. “A planned conspiracy is being carried out to defame Ayodhya Dham, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and its traditions.
The SIT will separate truth from falsehood. The designs of anti-national forces will not be allowed to succeed." Yogi directed pointed criticism at the Samajwadi Party, questioning the party’s appointment of a Kumbh in-charge. “Whom did Samajwadi Party leaders make in charge of the Kumbh? Can someone who abuses Bharat Mata be your well-wisher?" he said. The Chief Minister also challenged the Opposition’s religious credibility with blunt language. “Those who wake up at 12 noon, what will they understand about the importance of a pilgrimage? How will such people understand the significance of Sanatan Dharma?" he said. “Those who spend their entire lives immersed in worldly pleasures cannot understand the importance of yoga." Yogi went further, accusing the Opposition of historical hostility toward Ram devotees. He said the Opposition had previously questioned the existence of Ram in Supreme Court affidavits, had Ram devotees fired upon, and used lathis against those who chanted “Jai Shri Ram." “Today, they are preaching devotion to Lord Ram. People need to remain cautious of such double standards," he said.
On the SIT process, Yogi asked supporters to hold their patience. “When people waited 500 years for Shri Ram Janmabhoomi, can we not wait another 15 days?" he said. He also warned against falling for what he called Kalanemi-like deception. “Those trying to portray themselves as the biggest devotees of Lord Ram were never Ram devotees and never will be," he said. The Chief Minister addressed claims of declining footfall in Ayodhya directly. “I came today to see whether the number of devotees had really declined. I found Ayodhya packed with devotees. I went to Hanumangarhi and Ram Mandir in the scorching heat for darshan, and the same situation was visible there as well," he said. Yogi also compared the state of Ayodhya under previous governments to today. “Earlier, there were narrow lanes and heaps of garbage all around. The sacred Sarayu flowed, but Ram Ki Paidi remained deserted. If someone mistakenly chanted ‘Jai Shri Ram’, they had to face police batons," he said. He credited the transformation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
