(Source: PTI) Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) IT cell chief Amit Malviya on Tuesday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for remaining silent after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and TVK chief C Joseph Vijay paid homage to Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) chief Velupillai Prabhakaran. Vijay’s TVK had recently formed a new government in Tamil Nadu with the support of Congress and DMK allies. With Congress as an ally, Vijay on Monday expressed solidarity with Sri Lankan Tamils and paid tribute to LTTE founder V Prabhakaran on his death anniversary.
The LTTE was banned in India after the group was found to be behind the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. Prabhakaran was the main accused in the case. BJP Questions Rahul’s Silence Over Vijay’s Post For Prabhakaran Taking to X, BJP leader Amit Malviya questioned Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s stand over Vijay’s post for Prabhakaran and said that Congress will have no problem with it, as long as the party “gets a slice of power". The observance marks the end of the Sri Lankan civil war in 2009 and remembers the thousands of Tamil civilians who were killed, injured or went missing during the final phase of the conflict in Mullivaikkal, a coastal region in northern Sri Lanka.
