Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh on Friday filed a complaint with the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police, seeking the registration of an FIR over alleged large-scale irregularities in land transactions linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. He also demanded a time-bound investigation under the supervision of the Supreme Court. Addressing a press conference, Singh alleged that land worth around Rs 9 crore was purchased for more than Rs 55 crore using funds donated by devotees for the construction of the Ram temple.
He claimed the transaction amounted to a misuse of donations and said evidence supporting his allegations would be submitted to the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Read Full Story Singh said he had sent written complaints through his official email to the Uttar Pradesh DGP, the Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police and the concerned Station House Officer, seeking the registration of an FIR in the matter. The AAP leader alleged that a 117-biswa land parcel in Shahnewazpur Majha was purchased for Rs 55.47 crore despite its actual value being significantly lower.
He also referred to previous land transactions around Ayodhya and claimed that several deals had resulted in substantial financial losses to the trust. Drawing comparisons with compensation paid for land acquired near the temple area, Singh alleged that farmers in Majha Barhata village received compensation at a much lower rate than the price paid for the land in Shahnewazpur. He questioned the disparity and sought an investigation into the valuation and purchase process. Singh also criticised the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh government, alleging that concerns raised over the transactions had not been adequately addressed.
He questioned the silence of senior leaders on the issue and demanded accountability in the use of donations made by devotees. The Rajya Sabha MP said his party would submit official documents and other evidence to the SIT and urged authorities to conduct a transparent inquiry. Ends
