Ahead of the NEET UG re-test scheduled for Saturday, members of the Mysuru committee of All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) staged a protest at Ramaswamy Circle here on Friday condemning the alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 question paper and the subsequent cancellation of the examination. The protesters demanded stringent action against those responsible for the paper leak, abolition of the Testing Agency (NTA), and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
AIDSO State Treasurer Subhash Bettadakoppa alleged that repeated irregularities in NEET examinations reflected the failure of the existing examination system. Referring to previous instances of question paper leaks, he claimed that authorities had failed to address the root causes despite recurring controversies surrounding the examination. He criticised the growing dependence on coaching institutions for NEET preparation and alleged that commercial interests had come to dominate the education sector.
Bettadakoppa also expressed concern over the pressure faced by students and linked it to the reports of “rising instances of alleged suicides of students.” AIDSO Mysuru district president Chandrakala said the organisation had opposed NEET since its introduction, arguing that the examination favoured students who could afford expensive coaching and disadvantaged those from rural and economically weaker backgrounds. She alleged that education was increasingly being commercialised and urged students to unite against what she termed the corporatisation of education.
Swathi, vice-president of the AIDSO Mysuru district committee, district secretary Nitin and other office-bearers participated in the protest.
