Congress party leaders converged at Tirupati, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, on Friday (June 19, 2026) to pray for the health and well-being of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on his birthday. Led by All India Congress Committee (AICC) member Sunkara Padmasree, the leaders gathered at Srivarimettu, the foothill point on the western side, and began climbing the stairs while chanting “Govinda Govinda.” Speaking to the media, Ms. Padmasree stated that their leader, Rahul Gandhi, needed additional strength in the form of Lord Venkateswara’s blessings to support his efforts in the battle to restore democracy in the country. She expressed hope that the party would soon win the people’s mandate in the State.
