Inter-state burglar involved in over 40 property offence cases arrested in Sathya Sai district

The Sri Sathya Sai district police on Friday (June 19, 2026) arrested an alleged inter-state burglar and three of his accomplices and recovered stolen property worth ₹31.5 lakh. They were wanted in connection with a series of house burglaries reported in the Dharmavaram assembly constituency and surrounding areas. Addressing a press conference at the Deputy SP’s office, Superintendent of Police S.
Satish Kumar said that the breakthrough was made following a coordinated investigation involving CCTV footage analysis, technical surveillance, and field intelligence. “After a sharp increase in the number of burglary incidents, special teams were formed to crack the cases,” he said. “The prime accused identified as Mallela Veeranjaneyulu (42) of Dharmavaram is a habitual offender with a criminal record spanning nearly 25 years.
He is wanted in more than 40 property offences cases across several districts of Andhra Pradesh and parts of Karnataka,” Mr. Satish Kumar said. The SP also stated that the police teams seized gold and silver ornaments worth ₹14.5 lakh from the accused. They also traced and seized receipts for gold valued at nearly ₹17 lakh, which had allegedly been pledged to a private finance company.
Additionally, the police seized an autorickshaw and four mobile phones from the accused. Meanwhile, the SP appealed to the public to install high-resolution CCTV cameras, strengthen home security measures, and report suspicious activity in their localities to their respective police stations or through Dial 100.
