Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests and Environment K. Pawan Kalyan on Friday performed ‘Bhoomi Puja’ for ‘Aranyaramam’,near the AIIMS-Mangalagiri. Being built at a cost of approximately ₹24 crore, ‘Aranyaramam’ is the common facility for the State Forest Research & Training Institute, the State Forest Development Agency, the Healing and Nurturing Units for Monitoring, Aid and Nursing of Wildlife (HANUMAN) Project, and the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority, according to an official release.
Scientific research aimed at nature conservation would be conducted at ‘Aranyaramam’ using advanced technology. It would serve as a centre for monitoring all field-level operations from a single location, the release said. After laying the foundation, Mr. Pawan Kalyan enquired about the building design and site details, and viewed a photo exhibition on the rescue operations carried out by the Forest Department under the HANUMAN Project.
Officials informed the Deputy Chief Minister that the Forest Department had successfully carried out 185 wildlife protection operations and completed 36 human-wildlife conflict mitigation programmes in 2024 alone. Ministers Nadendla Manohar and Kandula Durgesh, Principal Secretary Kanthilal Dande, Forest Department Adviser P. Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests P.V. Chalapathi Rao, State Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation Chairman Chillapalli Srinivasa Rao, Police Housing Corporation Chairman Kalyanam Siva Srinivas, APPCB Chairman P.
Krishnaiah, Biodiversity Board Chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar, and State Science & Technology Council Member Secretary K. Sarath Kumar were among those present.
