Shashil Namoshi, MLC, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to people across the nation with pro-people governance and development work in his 12-year tenure, while addressing media persons in Yadgir on Friday. Namoshi bifurcated the works that have been implemented by the Union government into four major divisions, such as trust, people’s welfare, development, and international relations. “People trusted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and elected it with a full majority, making Mr. Modi the Prime Minister, and with the blessings of the voters, Mr. Modi has become India’s longest-serving Prime Minister in history,” Mr. Namoshi said. He listed a few schemes, projects, and programmes implemented by the Union government and targeted the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime with figures. “The tax distribution went up by 262.78% when compared to the UPA’s period, as it was just ₹81,794 crore from 2004 to 2014, but it has been ₹2,96,730 crore from 2014 to 2024.
The grant-in-aid from the Centre to the State has been considerably increased up to 292% as it was ₹60,779 during the UPA period and is now ₹2,38,288 crore,” he said. “As many as 2.12 crore people in Karnataka who did not have bank accounts were brought under the Jan Dhan Yojana and were given bank accounts to ensure economic stability. 4.27 crore people were extended social security benefits with the PM Jivan Jyothi and the PM Suraksha Bima Yojana with ₹2 lakh death or disability insurance,” he said. “The national highway network was 91,287 kilometres till 2014, and it was extended to 1,46,145 kilometres from 2014 to 2026. There were 74 airports functioning across the nation before 2014, and now, the number has risen to 157 airports.
Before the BJP government, as many as 370 medical colleges were functioning, and now, 830 colleges are functioning. A total revenue of ₹25,000 crore was collected from the auction of 200 coal blocks then, and now, ₹2 lakh crore has been collected from just 33 blocks. One can imagine by how much the revenue generation has increased,” he said. He added that the Industrial Corridor, at 8,500 acres, was established in Tumkur, a technical centre at a cost of ₹1,600 crore was established by HAL and Boeing in Bengaluru, Chandrayaan 3 was successfully launched, Article 370 was revoked, and the development of Jammu and Kashmir were major landmark achievements by the Union government. “The PM Mudra Yojana, PM Kisan Samman, Jal Jivan Mission, PM SVANidhi, PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Jan Aushadhi Kendras, Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, and the PM UDAN (”Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik”) are major popular schemes meant to extend health and financial benefits to the beneficiaries,” Mr. Namoshi said.
