Read Full Story The case came to light after the victim's son filed a missing person complaint at Sector-37 Police Station on June 14, 2026, reporting that his father, Balram, had gone missing. Police launched an investigation, examining CCTV footage, using technical surveillance, and activating informers. During the probe, investigators discovered that Balram had not disappeared but had allegedly been murdered.
According to police, the incident took place on the night of June 12-13. The accused, Mithun, an auto driver, and Vishesh Tomar and Sandeep, both associated with animal husbandry, lived in the Khandsa area. During questioning, the accused allegedly told police that Balram frequently abused them verbally. Police said another altercation broke out between Balram and the three accused on the intervening night of June 12 and 13. Enraged by the exchange, the trio allegedly attacked the elderly man with sticks and rods. The assault proved fatal, and Balram died at the spot. Investigators said the accused then attempted to destroy evidence. According to police, Sandeep and Vishesh Tomar placed the body on a motorcycle and transported it about 500 metres away to a vacant and isolated plot behind Khandsa village.
The accused allegedly set the body on fire and remained at the spot until it was completely burnt in an effort to eliminate evidence. Police further said the accused removed a ring from Balram's hand after the murder. They allegedly sold the ring to a jeweller for around Rs 70,000 and divided the proceeds among themselves. The ring has since been recovered by police. Acting on a specific tip-off, the Sector-37 police team arrested the three accused on June 19, 2026. The arrested accused have been identified as Vishesh Tomar (18), a resident of Shamli, Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh; Mithun (30), a resident of Fakana village in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh; and Sandeep (41), a resident of Kharkhoda in Haryana's Sonipat district.
Police records show that Sandeep was previously booked in a murder case in Sonipat, while Mithun has two prior cases related to assault and quarrels registered in Ghaziabad and Gurugram. Police said they will produce the accused before a court and seek their remand for further questioning. During the remand period, investigators plan to recover the sticks, motorcycle and other evidence allegedly used in the crime. Further investigation is underway. Ends
