In a move to expand digital learning in government schools, the Andhra Pradesh School Education Department and Samagra Shiksha have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Canva, a global online design platform. The agreement was signed in the presence of Director of School Education A. Thameem Ansaria and State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha B.
Srinivasa Rao. Under the partnership, Canva for Education will be provided free to students, teachers and education department officials across government schools in the State. The initiative aims to improve digital literacy and creativity by letting users create presentations, projects and other visual learning materials. The platform is proposed to be integrated with the State’s LEAP (Learning Excellence in Andhra Pradesh) app, Google Workspace and Chromebook ecosystem, subject to technical feasibility.
Teachers will be trained in phases through a Training of Trainers (ToT) model, and the programme will also promote the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in classrooms. As part of the initiative, the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) will develop curriculum-aligned template libraries in Telugu and English to support Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) objectives.
Officials said the platform had strong privacy safeguards, role-based access controls and teacher-managed AI features to ensure student safety and data protection. The project will be rolled out across the State in four phases.
