A murder case in Bihar’s Kaimur district has stunned many after the police revealed that four members of a family were allegedly murdered and their bodies cut into 18 pieces in an attempt to hide their identities. The gruesome case came to light in Ramgarh area after the body parts were discovered inside suitcases and sacks dumped at different locations over several days. According to the police, the accused allegedly killed his elder brother, sister-in-law and their two young children following a long-running family dispute. The incident took place on May 10 when severed body parts were found inside two suitcases lying under the Durgavati river bridge on the Mohania-Ramgarh road.
While the police were investigating the case, more body parts were recovered two days later from sacks dumped near a canal close to Abhaydey village. The discoveries have triggered panic and outrage across the area. Kaimur Superintendent of Police Harimohan Shukla later confirmed that the remains belonged to four people — a man, a woman and two children. Investigators said the bodies had allegedly been cut into 18 pieces. Victims Identified As Family Of Four Police identified the deceased as Krishna Murari Gupta, a resident of Dahrak village in Ramgarh area, his wife Durgesh Kumari and their two children. Following technical surveillance and local intelligence inputs, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) detained the victim’s younger brother, Vikas Gupta, for questioning. During interrogation, the police said Vikas Gupta allegedly confessed to the murders and admitted to dumping the body parts in sacks and suitcases using a scooter. Police also recovered the heads of the deceased, a country-made pistol, cartridges, the knife allegedly used in the killings and the scooter used to transport the bodies. ‘Family Dispute Led To Brutal Murders’ The police said the family had been facing frequent domestic disputes for a long time.
Investigators said Krishna Murari Gupta often fought with family members, including his mother and younger brother. Police said on May 5, an argument broke out between Krishna Murari and his mother, after which she informed her younger son Vikas Gupta, who was working in Maharashtra, about the incident and asked him to return home. According to the police investigation, Vikas then allegedly planned the murders along with his friend Deepak Rajput. Officials said that on May 7, Vikas Gupta, his younger brother Rahul alias Gautam and Deepak Rajput allegedly attacked Krishna Murari Gupta with a knife and killed him. Police further alleged that when the victim’s wife witnessed the attack and tried to escape, the accused chased and killed her as well. The couple’s two children were reportedly away at school during the incident. Investigators said the children were later killed after they returned home and began searching for their parents. Bodies Allegedly Cut Into Pieces To Destroy Evidence Police said the accused allegedly dismembered all four bodies into multiple pieces in an attempt to destroy evidence and conceal the identities of the victims.
The body parts were then packed into sacks and suitcases and dumped at different locations across the area. According to SP Harimohan Shukla, multiple family members and associates were allegedly involved in the crime, including two brothers of the deceased, a sister-in-law, the victim’s mother and Vikas Gupta’s friend Deepak Rajput. Police said two accused have been arrested, while raids are underway to trace the remaining suspects.
