Rapid Read Image for representation | File photo The Irrigation Department has clarified the situation regarding the matter related to the Sardar Patel Awas Yojana in Lucknow. In fact, some individuals have attempted to illegally encroach upon government land under the Irrigation Department on the slope of the Haider Canal embankment. Upon receiving information about this, the police force and the departmental revenue team reached the site and took action in accordance with the rules.
During the operation, notices were pasted at public places, and the illegal encroachments were identified in order to remove the illegally erected huts and shanties. This notice or action has no connection with the Sardar Patel Awas Yojana or its beneficiaries. According to a letter issued by the Assistant Engineer-II (Lucknow Division-2 Sharda Canal), no notice has been issued by the Irrigation Department for the houses constructed under the Sardar Patel Awas Yojana. In fact, when the people illegally occupying the Haider Canal embankment objected to accepting the departmental notices, these notices were pasted at public and visible locations where they could be seen. The objective of the department is only to keep the government land within the canal and embankment area free from encroachment and to prevent unauthorised construction and occupation.
In this regard, notices have been pasted at public places to provide advance information to the illegal occupants so that they may voluntarily remove the encroachments. A period of 10 days has been given for the removal of illegal encroachments. If this is not done, the department will take further action in accordance with the rules.
