In a significant geopolitical development, US forces have lifted the naval blockade on all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas as of June 18. This decision ends the reciprocal blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by both Iran and the United States. While US naval ships will remain in the area to ensure the agreement between the US and Iran is fully adhered to, all military enforcement efforts have ceased.
The lifting of the blockade is expected to ease the heavy traffic of oil tankers and commercial vessels in the region, providing much-needed relief to global trade and energy markets.
