The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has announced fresh water curbs in Mumbai due to delayed monsoon rains and dropping reservoir levels. Water levels in the seven lakes supplying the city have fallen to ten point thirty-five percent capacity. The municipal corporation has suspended water supply to construction sites and swimming pools, while imposing a twenty percent cut for industries and commercial establishments.
This is in addition to an ongoing ten percent citywide water cut. The restrictions have heavily impacted the construction sector and increased reliance on commercial water tankers, which are already facing strained supply.
