(You can now subscribe to our (You can now subscribe to our Economic Times WhatsApp channel The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather outlook indicating a mixed spell of rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds across parts of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Rajasthan over the next few days.While some regions may get relief from intense heat, others are expected to see humid conditions with sudden showers and lightning activity, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.In Delhi, weather conditions are expected to remain largely cloudy with intermittent rain or thundershowers.
For June 18, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for the capital and its bulletin read, "Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph), During evening - Very Light to Light Rainfall, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds(40-50kmph)."Thunderstorms with rainfall is likely in Delhi till June 21, the weather office said. Key areas such as India Gate, Connaught Place, Karol Bagh, South Delhi and Noida border regions may see sudden spells of rain, which could briefly disrupt traffic movement during peak hours.IMD has also flagged the possibility of gusty winds and lightning activity, particularly during late afternoon and evening.Across Uttar Pradesh, IMD has forecast thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain in several districts.
Cities like Lucknow, Prayagraj, Kanpur and surrounding regions may experience short but intense weather activity, with wind speeds increasing during storm cells.Bihar is also expected to remain under a thunderstorm-prone zone, with scattered rainfall activity likely across multiple districts. The weather department has cautioned residents about lightning risk in open areas, especially during sudden evening storms.Parts of Rajasthan may continue to see hot and dry conditions, but IMD has also indicated chances of dust storms
and isolated thunderstorms in certain regions. Areas in eastern Rajasthan could witness brief rain spells, bringing temporary relief from rising temperatures.According to IMD, northern and central India are currently experiencing an unstable weather phase, driven by moisture inflow and changing wind patterns.This is leading to a combination of:Sudden rain showersGusty surface windsPatchy heat relief in some regionsResidents are advised to stay alert, especially during outdoor travel and evening hours when storm activity is more likely.
