Rajasthan Police have arrested a social media influencer and her alleged lover for the murder of her husband in Barmer district, uncovering what investigators described as a pre-planned conspiracy that ended with the victim's body being dumped in a water tank in a secluded field. The case came to light on June 4 when the body of 42-year-old Tejaram was found inside a water tank in a field near Malpura Phanta. Following the discovery, the victim's brother, Mahesharam, accused Tejaram's wife, Netal (36), and her alleged lover, Gumansingh (30), a resident of Mithra village, of murdering him. Read Full Story According to the complaint, Gumansingh worked as a taxi driver and was allegedly involved in an extramarital relationship with Netal. Mahesharam claimed that Tejaram had become aware of their relationship, leading him to suspect that the two had conspired to kill his brother and dispose of the body in the tank.
Police subsequently registered a case and launched an investigation. Using technical evidence, witness statements and other material collected during the probe, police cracked the case and arrested both accused. Barmer DSP Ramesh Kumar Sharma said police produced the accused before a court. The court sent Netal to judicial custody, while Gumansingh was remanded to two days of police custody for further questioning. During the investigation, police found that Netal, a mother of four, was highly active on social media and had around 42,000 followers on Instagram, where she was known as a social media influencer. Investigators said she came into contact with Gumansingh through Instagram, and the two later met in person. Their acquaintance allegedly developed into a relationship. Police said Tejaram worked at a building construction site in Chitalwana in Jalore district and often stayed away from home for work. When he learned about the alleged relationship between his wife and Gumansingh, frequent disputes reportedly broke out between the couple.
Tejaram had allegedly warned his wife to stay away from the taxi driver. Investigators said Netal and Gumansingh then plotted to eliminate Tejaram. As part of the alleged plan, Netal called her husband on June 2 and told him she was fed up with him and was leaving home. She then switched off her phone. Concerned after being unable to contact his wife, Tejaram left Jalore in search of her. When her phone remained switched off, he contacted Gumansingh. According to police, Gumansingh told him to come to Dhorimanna in Barmer so they could search for her together. Police said Tejaram reached Dhorimanna on the evening of June 2, where Gumansingh gained his trust and allegedly served him a large amount of alcohol. After Tejaram became heavily intoxicated, Gumansingh allegedly drove him in his taxi to a field near Malpura Phanta, around 30 kilometres away from Dhorimanna.
