An exclusive discussion highlights Israel's perspective on the recent fourteen-point memorandum of understanding signed between the United States and Iran. An Israeli envoy asserts that while the military campaign successfully neutralized immediate existential threats and inflicted severe damage on Iranian military infrastructure, the new diplomatic agreement leaves critical security gaps. The pact reportedly includes a sixty-day ceasefire, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and potential sanctions relief for Iran, alongside a proposed withdrawal of American forces from the region.
However, Israel expresses deep concern over the exclusion of restrictions on ballistic missiles and regional proxies. In response to these unaddressed threats, Israel plans to invest heavily in defence technology to ensure national security. The envoy also dismisses the feasibility of Iran charging tolls in international waterways and criticizes the mediation roles played by regional actors, suggesting they favoured Iranian interests.
Despite differences with the American administration regarding the diplomatic approach, Israel maintains its commitment to self-defence and regional stability.
