Devotees to be frisked at Thiruchendur temple from July 1
Devotees visiting the Sri Subramanyaswamy Temple in Thiruchendur will be frisked from July 1 to prevent them from carrying their mobile phones into the shrine
Devotees visiting the Sri Subramanyaswamy Temple in Thiruchendur will be frisked from July 1 to prevent them from carrying their mobile phones into the shrine. Though the rule banning mobile phones inside the temple has been implemented since 2022, the temple administration said that they were making it more stringent.
“The public, which includes both those in the free darshan queue and paid ₹100 ticket queue, should either leave the mobiles in their places of stay or in their vehicles. If this is not possible, they can leave it at lockers placed at various locations in the temple,” said a press release.
A former official of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department, under whose purview the temple is, said the same rule should apply to VIP
visitors, temple staff, and priests as well. “This would prevent paid darshan that has been rampant in the temple,” he added.
