Member of Parliament B.Y. Raghavendra has instructed officers of the Shivamogga district administration to resolve issues relating to the notification of deemed forest areas, and to grant permission to lay roads and clearance to install BSNL towers in parts of Bharangi hobli, Sagar taluk. Raghavendra held a meeting with officials on Thursday following complaints received during public consultation meetings in the taluk.
The MP directed officers to identify land suitable for public utilities before notifying the deemed forest area. He pointed out that many applications from Bagar Hukum cultivators for land grants had been pending with the government. Notifying the deemed forest without addressing the pending applications would place cultivators in difficulty, he said, and instructed officials to ensure no farmer suffered harm.
Raghavendra directed the officials to begin the process of obtaining forest clearance for the construction of rural roads across the taluk. He noted that many villages in the taluk lacked proper road connectivity. He also asked the officers to submit proposals for providing road and power supply to villages, including Kanurkote, Bheemeshwar, Urulgallu, Meghane, and Muppane.
The MP reviewed the progress of the BSNL tower installation in Bharangi hobli. Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, Chief Conservator of Forests K.T. Hanumanthappa, Additional Deputy Commissioner V. Abhishek, and senior forest department officials were present.
