Rapid Read Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh raises concerns over Ayodhya arrangements. BJP leader and former MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on Thursday questioned the security arrangements in Ayodhya, saying it had become difficult for common devotees to reach the temple town. Singh, who was associated with the Ram temple movement, said those who strengthened the movement were feeling the most neglected today. Supporting BJP leader and Bajrang Dal founder Vinay Katiyar’s remarks on the alleged neglect of people associated with the movement, Singh said those who had made significant contributions were facing the greatest difficulties after the construction of the Ram temple.
He said people from the Devipatan and Basti divisions, as well as districts surrounding Ayodhya, had contributed money, manpower and support during the Ram temple movement. According to Singh, thousands of devotees earlier visited Ayodhya regularly to offer prayers at temples, including Nageshwarnath and Hanumangarhi. He alleged that barricades installed in and around Ayodhya were creating problems for devotees and claimed that they were being removed after payment of Rs 200. The BJP leader said both visitors and local residents were facing difficulties in the name of security. He added that he himself had not yet visited the Ram temple for darshan. “If even a senior leader like Vinay Katiyar has to go through identification and obtain a pass, one can understand the situation of common devotees," Singh said.
He said arrangements for devotees should be made simpler and more convenient, and claimed that public resentment over the security measures had affected election results in nearby areas. On the alleged threats made against him and his MLA son recently, Singh said he did not take them seriously. He said such threats were common in public life and could be the act of a disturbed individual. Singh added that he would continue raising issues concerning the public.
