Six days after an electrocution incident in Hyderabad's Alwal area claimed the lives of a father and his daughter, the family is demanding accountability from civic authorities. Sandeep and his daughter Prathika died after coming into contact with a live wire while attempting to move their car during heavy rain. Sandeep's wife, Shweta, who was also injured and rendered unconscious, alleges severe negligence by the electricity department.
The family claims they made over twenty calls to electricians, but received no response. Furthermore, they state that an ambulance arrived twenty minutes before the deaths but could not intervene because the power supply had not been disconnected. Relatives assert that despite prior warnings to authorities about trimming trees before the monsoon, no preventive action was taken. The family highlights the lack of government response, noting that no officials have visited them, no ex gratia has been announced, and the police First Information Report merely describes the incident as an unfortunate accident.
