The newly formed government in Keralam has decided to continue with the central government's PM SHRI school scheme, sparking a political row in the state. While in the opposition, the ruling coalition had strongly opposed the initiative, leading the Left opposition to label the decision as hypocritical.
The state government explained that it is compelled to proceed with the project because the previous administration had already signed the agreement and received central funds. However, the government has formed a cabinet subcommittee to review the matter and has insisted on a non-negotiable condition that the central government must not interfere with the state's curriculum autonomy.
