The state has been witnessing severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures reaching record levels and hot winds affecting normal life. Amid the surge in electricity consumption, UPPCL said it has ensured smooth and quality power supply under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
According to the corporation, Uttar Pradesh ranked first in the country in meeting electricity demand on June 14 and June 15. The state supplied 29,571 MW of electricity on June 14 and 29,579 MW on June 15 before meeting the record demand of 30,760 MW on June 16. UPPCL said the achievement was significant as the state managed to meet the high demand without any major power crisis. In terms of demand-based electricity supply, Uttar Pradesh surpassed several major states, including Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Karnataka. The corporation said the government has directed officials to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to consumers as per the prescribed roster. As a result, power supply conditions have improved in both urban and rural areas, with adequate electricity being provided to support domestic, commercial and agricultural activities.
Power department personnel are working round the clock despite extreme heat, strong winds and rainfall. Faults in power lines are being repaired promptly, while transformers and other electrical equipment are being closely monitored. Maintenance teams are also carrying out repair work during the night to minimise inconvenience to consumers. To strengthen the power network, works are being undertaken across districts under the Business Plan 2025-26. UPPCL is also running a special campaign to reduce tripping and fault incidents. Tree branches near power lines are being trimmed regularly, while cleaning around power lines and substations is being carried out to reduce disruptions during adverse weather conditions. Officials have been instructed to conduct regular field inspections, and senior officers are visiting substations and power houses to review arrangements. The department has also placed special emphasis on the prompt resolution of consumer complaints.
