Out of 1,69,179 schools assessed across the country, only 191 institutions were selected at the national level. The Basic Education Department has announced that the top 20 state-level schools will be honoured to encourage similar initiatives in cleanliness and environmental conservation. Schools were evaluated on parameters including sanitation, water conservation, energy efficiency, waste management, green campus development and community participation. The assessment process involved self-evaluation through the SHVR portal, followed by verification at the district and state levels before the final national selection. Senior Construction Expert Shyam Kishore Tiwari said the recognition was the result of the collective efforts of teachers, students, School Management Committees and the Education Department. He said continuous efforts were being made to strengthen cleanliness, greenery and basic infrastructure in schools, and expressed hope that the achievement would motivate other institutions to create cleaner, greener and better learning spaces.
