Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday called on citizens to actively contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, saying every individual has a role to play in the nation’s journey towards becoming a developed country.
Speaking at the News18 India Amrit Bharat Samman 2026 event in New Delhi, Gupta said each generation has been entrusted with a unique national responsibility, and the current generation’s mission is to help build a Viksit Bharat. “Delhi is the capital of India and welcomes people from every part of the country. Every generation has its own story. One generation got the opportunity to fight for India’s Independence. The next generation took on the responsibility of nation-building. Today, our responsibility is to contribute towards a Viksit Bharat," she said. Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s Viksit Bharat 2047 vision, Gupta said the mission cannot be achieved by governments alone and requires participation from every section of society.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi talks about Viksit Bharat 2047. Every person has a role in this mission. Someone may contribute as a writer, actor, politician, social worker, singer or soldier. Every role is important in nation-building," she said. Emphasising the need for collective responsibility, the Chief Minister urged citizens to think beyond personal interests and dedicate themselves to the country’s progress. “We should all start living for the country. Each one of us should do at least one meaningful thing for the nation– ‘Ek Kaam Desh Ke Naam’," Gupta said.
