'Suffocated & Fractured': How Jitin Prasada Foresees Unravelling Of Oppn | News18 India Amrit Ratna Samman Published By, Last Updated: June 17, 2026, 16:49 IST According to the minister, several opposition lawmakers are privately disillusioned with the purely obstructionist approach adopted by their party high commands Jitin Prasada is Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT, Commerce & Industry. File pic/PTI Launching a scathing attack on the opposition bloc, union minister of state Jitin Prasada asserted that internal discontent and structural fragmentation are rapidly dismantling the unity of rival parties. Speaking at the News18 India Amrit Ratna Samman conclave on Wednesday, the minister claimed that an undercurrent of rebellion is brewing among opposition MPs who feel increasingly suffocated by their top leadership’s directionless strategy and reliance on dynastic politics.
According to Prasada, several opposition lawmakers are privately disillusioned with the purely obstructionist approach adopted by their party high commands in Parliament. He argued that these elected representatives face immense pressure from their respective electorates to deliver on local developmental projects. Consequently, being forced into a cycle of constant political confrontation rather than constructive policymaking has left many looking towards the development-centric agenda of the Democratic Alliance (NDA) as a viable alternative for actual progress. “Opposition MPs are increasingly feeling trapped within an ideological vacuum, where personal dynastic interests routinely override the developmental needs of the common citizen," he said. The minister positioned this internal friction not as an isolated incident but as an institutional failure of the opposition’s combined front.
Prasada highlighted that as these internal cracks inevitably widen ahead of critical state assembly elections, the ruling coalition’s stability and transparent governance model will continue to attract lawmakers who are answerable to their constituencies. The address at the conclave underscores the ruling BJP’s strategy to project an image of absolute policy cohesion while portraying the opposition as a fractured, unstable alliance heading towards an inevitable breaking point. The minister indicated that the public’s patience with disruptive politics has completely eroded, leaving the opposition’s top leadership isolated from both the electorate and their own rank-and-file members.
