TMC Shown The Door, Owner Of Office Building Asks To Leave Within 2 Months Published By Last Updated: June 17, 2026, 13:26 IST Trinamool Congress has been asked to vacate the building it was using as its headquarter within two months by the owner of the building. Post-poll violence is the reason. Amid the ongoing TMC meltdown, the party has now been asked to vacate the rented building that was being used by it as its headquarter. (Source: PTI) The owner of the building which was rented by TMC to use as its headquarters has now asked the party to vacate the premises within two months, according to media reports. The owner Montu Saha, and his son Amit Shah, sought help from the police to get the building vacated. The building, which was known as ‘Trinamool Bhavan’, is located on the EM Bypass Road in the Topsia area. It was being used as a temporary office by Trinamool because its original office, also in Topsia, was being renovated.
Trinamool Congress, reportedly, had the old office taken down and was building a new one at the same place after their victory in the 2021 assembly election. In 2022, they took Montu Saha’s building on rent to use as their base of operations. According to the owners, the contract for the building had been signed for two years and it was extended by another year. After the contract ended in 2025, TMC functionaries were repeatedly asked to vacate the place to no avail, the owner and his son alleged. Now, they have requested the Mamata Banerjee-led party to vacate the premises within two months. Their reason for asking the party to leave soon is the post-poll violence that Bengal witnessed after June 4th, when TMC lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party resoundingly. How Was The Building Being Used This rented building had been the hub of major political operations of the Trinamool Congress since 2022. The coordination activities for the 2024 Lok Sabha election were undertaken from this place.
Then Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her nephew and TMC General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee would work from different locations. However, this building was used by other senior leaders of the party for meetings, press conferences, and other election-related activities. The older headquarter of the Trinamool Congress on Topsia Road is also a contested location now. One of the rebel Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Javed Khan is claiming that that building stands on land owned by his family, according to a report by the Times of India. What’s Next Saha told reporters that this action is not motivated by any political considerations. He has even been assured by the Trinamool Congress that the premises will be vacated within two months, according to an OpIndia report. He also said that he has taken this action because of security concerns. “Immediately after the results of the Assembly elections were announced on 4 May, there was widespread vandalism outside that house. If there is any damage to the house, the loss will be mine.
