Later, speaking to Czech television, he added “Was there ever any doubt? Was there ever any doubt? We came for a show." The 28-year-old admitted the unusual nature of the event presented its own challenges. “It’s very hard to get used to running from a staggered 150 start. We do it in practice, but that’s without blocks. But all in all, I think that it was really good." Strong Field, Stronger Finish Lyles wasn’t the only athlete making headlines.
South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile finished second in 14.78, while Australian teenage sensation Gout Gout continued his rapid rise by taking third place in 14.96. The performance further underlined Lyles’ excellent form in 2026. Earlier this month, he cruised to victory in the 100m at the Rome Diamond League, clocking 9.88 seconds, his fastest time since winning Olympic gold in Paris. More Highlights From Ostrava The meeting also featured standout performances elsewhere. Swiss middle-distance runner Audrey Werro claimed victory in the women’s 800m with a brilliant 1:54.45, holding off Dutch star Femke Bol, who finished second in 1:57.13 during her outdoor debut over the distance. Meanwhile, South Africa’s rising sprint talent Bayanda Walaza won the men’s 100m in 9.94 seconds, equalling his personal best and finishing ahead of Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme.
