News18 Marathi, citing sources, reported that six rebel MPs have already submitted a letter to the Speaker about their separate group and have got in-principle nod on Tuesday. A strict whip Thackeray faction’s chief whip Anil Desai has issued an official whip (party order) to all the MPs of the Lok Sabha. “All Lok Sabha members of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party are hereby informed that an important meeting of the Parliamentary Party has been called to discuss various issues of the party. All MPs are required to be present at the Parliamentary Party Office 128-A, Parliament House (Samvidhan Sadan) on Thursday, 18th June 2026 at 11.00 am." A letter to Speaker Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant, a loyalist of Uddhav Thackeray, has written to the Lok Sabha Speaker requesting that any party MP forming a separate faction or merging with another party not be recognised. Sawant wrote in the letter that the Shiv Sena (UBT) is a single political party and is legally valid. The Shiv Sena (UBT) stated that the party’s existence in Parliament stems from the parent political party, and therefore, separate factions cannot claim to represent the same party.
