According to investigators, the singer was kidnapped at gunpoint in Ludhiana on May 13. Her brother, Jotinder Singh, told CNN-News18 that Inder Kaur had stepped out around 8:30 P.M. on May 13 in her Ford Figo car to buy groceries but did not return until late into the night. When the family initiated a search, they discovered that she had been acquainted with some Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukha from Bhaloor village in the Moga district, he said. Accordingly, they approached the police and got an FIR registered on May 15 against Sukhwinder Singh and his associate Karamjit Singh. However, the family later alleged that no action was taken into the matter.
Rejection, Grudge, And Crime According to Jotinder Singh, accused Sukhwinder wanted to marry his sister, but she had reportedly turned down his proposal. Due to this grudge, he allegedly abducted her at gunpoint with the help of his associates and later murdered her. He claimed the accused had fled to Canada after killing his sister and that he came from Canada via Nepal to commit the crime. SHO Balbir Singh of Jamalpur police station told CNN-News18 that police had received information about a body found in the Neelo canal. A police team rushed to the spot and called the family for identification. The body has been kept at the Civil Hospital in Samrala.
