How Long Is Iran-US Peace Deal MoU? Vance Says It Is Not Even 'Two Pages' Published By, Last Updated: June 16, 2026, 21:15 IST US-Iran memorandum on ending West Asia war stays under two pages, JD Vance calls it very general as it opens Strait of Hormuz and tackles sanctions and assets. United States Vice President JD Vance (Source: Reuters) As the world gets ready to witness signing of the histories agreement that will bring an end to the war in West Asia, US Vice President JD Vance has said the memorandum does not even fill two pages. In an interview with CNN, Vance said the MoU addresses the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of the US naval blockade on Iran and issues of Iran’s frozen assets and a potential reconstruction fund.
He further said that the memorandum is “very general" and doesn’t even fill two pages. The peace agreement will pave the way for detailed negotiations on the Islamic republic’s nuclear programme and sanctions relief. While no official details of the agreement have been published, Iranian media outlets reported that it includes 14 clauses, including the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, the immediate lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the release of $24 billion in frozen Iranian funds. Check for Live Updates The final text of the understanding reached between the US and Iran explicitly recognises the role of Iran and Oman in determining the future of maritime services in the Strait of Hormuz and, according to a person familiar with the developments cited by Iran’s Fars News Agency, effectively accepts Tehran’s right to collect related service fees.
Meanwhile, Israel has formally sought access to the memorandum of understanding but the request has been declined, according to the Israeli media. Earlier, US President Donald Trump said on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France that he will release the text of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding in a formal setting. “I’ll not only release it, I’ll probably have a press conference and read it to you word by word, so that the press covers it accurately, because it’s a very important document," he said. The deal will be signed at Switzerland’s mountainside Burgenstock resort on Friday, AFP quoted the Swiss foreign ministry. It “was proposed by the Pakistani and Qatari mediators, as well as by the US and Iran," it said.
