Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently expressed his displeasure over repeated calls for attendees to stand and applaud during a public event he was attending in Madhya Pradesh. The former Chief Minister voiced his frustration with the customary practice when the announcer urged him to take the dais and asked the crowd to rise and give applause to welcome him. You are making them stand at everything," Chouhan said, taking the mic in a visibly angry manner. Addressing the crowd, he further said, "I am your servant, I'll stand for you all." The remarks were met with a thundering applause. At the programme, Chouhan announced the launch of the 'Mama Coaching Class,' an initiative to provide free coaching to youths for competitive exams, in the district, which is a part of the Vidisha constituency represented by him in the Lok Sabha.
Popularly known as 'Mama' during his tenure as the CM of Madhya Pradesh, he said these institutions will provide students not only academic support but also comprehensive guidance for career and employment. "After Vidisha, 'Mama Coaching Class' will soon be launched in Raisen to provide quality preparation for competitive exams for the youth, ensuring their bright future," the Union minister stated. Chouhan further said that the initiative will not remain limited to providing coaching, adding that young people will also be given career counselling, self-employment opportunities, banking assistance, and employment guidance.
