Education in the government sector is all set to undergo a major change with the first State-run Telangana Public School slated to be inaugurated on Wednesday. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will formally inaugurate the Telangana Public School and its campus at Arutla. Billed as a game changer in school education by officials, the TPS will provide quality education, transportation, and nutritious food. A dream project of the Chief Minister, the TPS has been conceived with an aim to revolutionize education in the State offering education from Nursery to Intermediate on a single campus.
Part of the educational reforms ushered in by the Congress government, TPS is designed with state-of-the-art facilities to compete with the corporate educational institutions dominating the sector for some time now. The Chief Minister will unveil the pylon and visit the digital classrooms after having breakfast with students.. He will inspect the library, science labs, dining hall, and sports grounds and other facilities on the campus besides participating in an interactive meeting with student, teachers and members of the school committee. The Arutla TPS was developed under the supervision of the Education Commission and is expected to offer education with international standards.
Alongside quality education, equal emphasis is being given to sports, cultural activities, and personality development. Students at Telangana Public Schools will be provided with free bus transportation, breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks. Instruction will be conducted in the English medium. Featuring modern teaching methods and technological facilities, the TPS aims at boosting public confidence in government schools. The government has selected four schools as pilot project in Arutla and Manchala in Rangareddy district, as well as Vangur and Polkampalli in the erstwhile Mahabubnagar district. The government has proposed setting up of 100 schools in a phased manner.
The corporate style environment put in place in the TPS ensured that there was overwhelming response from the parents. It has become the first government school to put up a “no admission” board after enrollment crossed 1,800 in different classes. The government arranged 5 school buses to transport students from Arutla and surrounding villages to the school to motivate parents to join their children in the TPS.
