The government has implemented unprecedented security measures for the upcoming NEET re-examination scheduled for June 21 following a massive paper leak. To maintain an unbroken chain of custody, the Indian Air Force and the Army have been pressed into service to airlift confidential question papers to eighteen hubs across the country using transport aircraft like Globemasters and MI-17 helicopters. From these hubs, the papers will be moved under armed escort to examination centres.
The extensive security apparatus also includes the deployment of CRPF and CISF personnel, while the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center conducts round-the-clock surveillance to monitor online threats. Additionally, the railways have established a control room to facilitate student movement. These extraordinary steps come as authorities battle scammers offering fake refunds and the rapid spread of misinformation, which led to restrictions on Telegram.
The massive logistical operation aims to prevent further compromises and rebuild the eroded trust of lakhs of aspirants in the national examination system.
