Applications for the Rhodes Scholarship 2027 have opened for students from India, offering an opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.According to the Rhodes Trust, applications opened on June 1, 2026, and will remain open until 11:59 pm IST on July 23, 2026. Five Rhodes Scholarships are available for candidates from India in the 2027 cycle.The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the world's most prestigious international scholarship programmes. Established through the will of Cecil Rhodes, it supports outstanding students from around the world to study at Oxford while becoming part of a global community of scholars.Five scholarships available for IndiaThe Rhodes Trust said Indian students have been part of the programme since 1947. Since then, more than 200 Indians have been awarded the scholarship.The scholarships are awarded through a constituency-based selection process, with India receiving five scholarships for the upcoming cycle.Applicants must apply through the India constituency and meet the eligibility requirements prescribed by the Rhodes Trust.What applicants should knowThe Rhodes Trust has published detailed guidance for Indian applicants, including eligibility criteria, application requirements, information for referees and the selection process.Candidates are advised to carefully review the official "Information for Candidates" document, scholarship conditions and the list of Oxford courses covered by the programme before submitting an application.The Trust has also made available a "Scholars Guide" prepared by current Rhodes Scholars in Oxford to help prospective applicants better understand the application process.In addition, scholars currently studying at Oxford have offered to answer applicant queries through an open group aimed at providing equal access to guidance and information.Selection processThe Rhodes Scholarship selection process evaluates candidates based on criteria established by the Rhodes Trust.
