Three Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were injured in an explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Rajouri sector on Tuesday, according to sources. The soldiers were on a routine patrol when the blast occurred. All three injured personnel were immediately evacuated and rushed to a military hospital for treatment.
Sources said the exact cause of the explosion has not yet been determined, and investigations are underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident. Read Full Story News agency PTI reported that the blast was caused by the accidental activation of a landmine during an area domination patrol by Army personnel in the forward Kalal area of the Nowshera sector.
As part of anti-infiltration measures, the forward areas are dotted with landmines, which can sometimes be washed away by rain, resulting in such accidents, officials told PTI. This is the third explosion-related incident involving Army personnel in the past 10 days. Earlier, two soldiers were killed in an accidental grenade blast in the Uri sector.
In a separate incident in Poonch, two Army personnel sustained injuries in an accidental explosion. Officials are yet to ascertain further details as security agencies continue to investigate the blast. Ends
