The full Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is expected to be released after the formal signing ceremony. Vance also confirmed in media interviews that the agreement had been digitally signed and said the complete text would likely be made public later this week. Trump said the details of the accord would be released “sometime after Friday." “We already signed the deal digitally yesterday," Vance said on the Good Morning America programme on ABC News. The deal was negotiated through mediators that included Pakistan and Qatar. The agreement follows a breakthrough in negotiations between Washington and Tehran and is aimed at bringing an immediate and permanent end to military hostilities across multiple fronts, including Lebanon. The deal has been confirmed by both the United States and Iran after it was initially announced by mediator Pakistan. Trump said the agreement would pave the way for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that handles a significant share of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas trade.
He also announced the immediate removal of the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz following the agreement. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said the memorandum would serve as the foundation for talks on a final agreement over the next 60 days. The negotiations are expected to cover issues including Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief and the release of frozen Iranian assets. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said that his country would host the signing ceremony of the deal between the US and Iran in Switzerland on June 19. The Hormuz Strait will be fully open by Friday, and heavy tankers will get priority movement to ensure that the oil and gas supplies flow very quickly, the NYT quoted the senior US official as saying. While both sides have welcomed the agreement, details of the deal remain unclear. Iranian officials have stressed that Tehran will closely monitor US compliance before moving toward a final settlement, while differences persist over issues including Iran’s nuclear activities and regional security arrangements.
